Clean up and garden refurbishment

Garden Clean Up Sydney Commercial Site

This was a quick garden clean up and makeover for a new lease on a small industrial site in Sydney’s Inner Suburbs.

Garden Design Brief

The brief for this was just a quick garden clean up including replanting, mulch and reinstate irrigation system. To help make the entry garden more appropriate and presentable for the new tenants a scientific testing lab. Who would have clients visiting the site from time to time. And general presentation was important to the company as well.

For this garden makeover project during the initial clean up of the garden. We lifted and kept some existing Cliveas and Lomandra grass for re-use in the garden. And supplemented with additional Azaleas, Brachycombe, Agapanthus, Cordyline and Callistemon.

There was a layer of mulch from 20-200 mm thick in places left over from some tree removals. The solution for a tight budget was to not take away the excess mulch but to dig in relatively uncomposted. This will cause problems with Nitrogen draw down. And a heavy dose of High Nitrogen Fertiliser was used to help compensate. This was mixed into 200 mm depth with the mulch.

We did not add water storing polymers to the whole site to save on the budget. But incorporated individually. Into planting holes and backfill soil during the planting process.

The existing plants were divided replanted and set out with new plant stock. To provide a bit of balance and the creation of relatively pleasing garden design fit for its purpose. The Cliveas were divided from one big clump and sweeping curve created through the garden. Cordyline were used as a feature towards the front edge of the garden to help draw attention away from the back edge of the garden.

Irrigation Service

The old micro spray irrigation was repaired and garden topped with fresh pine bark mulch for decoration and water retention. Pine bark mulch was chosen for looks and longevity as there was substantial organic matter incorporated into the soil profile during preparation. I did not want any more mulch breaking down to quickly into the soil profile.
